A game of multiple genres

Treehouse Man is a video game developed by Hunchback Studio that combines turned-based strategy and real-time action. In this game, you play as a newly baptized member of a small band of children. Your task is to save your brothers and sisters from death by searching for the Treehouse Man.

Treehouse Man combines a variety of different aspects and puts them all together. Besides having turned-based combat, it also features bullet hell-esque dodging sequences. There is also a hint of exploration and completing missions. However, as it does not focus on one genre, it made the game feel overwhelming

What is Treehouse Man?

The Treehouse Man refers to the mythical holy grail of the people living in the game's world. For years, the people have always served him loyally and diligently. However, in their time of need, the Treehouse Man remained silent. A newly baptized member, you are tasked to search for your salvation. You will traverse the rivers along the forest to do so. Of course, it will not be easy.

Throughout, you will meet up with lots of people. You can also pick up messages found in bottles. And as with action games, engage in battles with enemies. And this is where the game takes a unique turn. As mentioned, the combats are turned-based with bullet hell elements. You and the enemy take turns in attacking. However, when it's the enemy's turn to attack, you will dodge in real-time.

As an added challenge, the game has diverse enemies. The missions are also made in a roguelike fashion. Don't worry, though. You will have eight weapons, eight companions, and almost 20 points to use. Although, these do not have much use in the boss fight. Not only that but having these many elements in the game can make the experience a little too overwhelming.

Jack of all trades, master of none

All in all, Treehouse Man offers a unique experience to its players. It provides a refreshing mix of various gameplay with diverse build components, enemies, and atmosphere. It also helps that the game comes with an amazing pixel design. However, having this many elements can be quite overwhelming to some. Moreover, players will find that the developer focused on putting all these features and failed to fine-tune them.

  • Pros

    • Amazing pixel design
    • Assortment of game elements
    • Variety of enemies, weapons, and companions
    • Unique combination of turn-based and real-time gameplay
  • Cons

    • Builds do not matter for the final boss
    • Requires players to be good at dodging
    • Story is too straightforward
    • Excursions tend to be repetitive

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
